This email is mainly to give a reminder and more details of two upcoming events: our Gathering and a discussion as part of Ethical Consumer Week.
Co-operative customer unions to make more companies ethical?
First up, next Thursday we’re excited to be hosting a discussion as part of Ethical Consumer Week on the co-operative customer union model we’ve built up at Save Our Bank over the past eight years, and whether it might be applied to the task of making other companies more ethical.
We’ll be discussing questions around the role of buying shares; the experience in similar areas like Football Supporters Trusts and in other countries like Germany; and how this links to the co-operative movement.

Register now for the Save Our Bank Gathering!
This year’s Save Our Bank Gathering will take place online on Saturday 26th November 2022 from 2pm. This is our annual event for members and supporters to come together to reflect on the year gone by and the year ahead.
This year we also want to look a little further ahead and discuss where we want the Customer Union to be in ten years’ time, with all options on the table. We’ll also take a deeper dive into the bank’s new Ethical Policy together with the bank. And of course, a representative of the Co-op Bank will join us and answer your questions.
The pandemic has taught us that holding the Gathering online means more people are able to attend, so we’re sticking with an online format. We’ll also be holding a more formal Annual General Meeting before the Gathering (from 1pm, for members only).
